Gawad Kalinga Pride of the Nation

I remember the first time if I recall it correctly, that Aly Medalla then, would rather not enter politics for personal belief and conviction. Most politicians (sorry to say this ) but this are the impression of great majority of the people around the world including myself, that most politicians are corrupt and worst naive and calloused to the needs of the people.

But after so much consultations and personal reflection, she believes that entering into politics would bring and initiate changes the way it perceived by the people.

True to her words, Councilor Aly Medalla, give up the Chairmanship of Committee on Games and Amusement and exchange it for the Committee Chairmanship of Committee on Education, Science and Technology where she believes she can contribute best.

Another excellent virtue of Councilor Aly Medalla is her keen eyes for another important works and contributions. Today, I will feature, one of her measures, recognizing the notable deeds of Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation.

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND BESTOWING THE “COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE SERVICE AWARD” TO THE GAWAD KALINGA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION FOR THEIR EFFORTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS IN BUILDING EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES AND HELPING DECONGEST PUBLIC SCHOOLS BY PROVIDING 346 (THREE-HUNDRED FORTY SIX) PRE-SCHOOL CLASSROOMS IN ALL GAWAD KALINGA VILLAGES NATIONWIDE

Whereas, R.A 7160, Chapter 4, Section 34, the Local Government Units shall promote the establishment and operation of people’s and non-governmental organizations to become active partners in the pursuit of local autonomy;

Whereas, Gawad Kalinga Development Foundation is continually building empowered communities by people with faith and patriotism driven by a culture of caring and sharing dedicated to eradicate poverty and to restore dignity;

Whereas, Department of Education Secretary Armin Luistro was appreciative to Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation’s initiative of building 346 (three-hundred forty six) classrooms nationwide which will be used as extension for classes of five-year old children who are enrolled under the Department of Education’s Universal Kindergarten Program;

Whereas, the 18^th City Council of Quezon City recognizes the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation as a partner in the pursuit of improving local autonomy, who share a common vision of land for the landless, home for the homeless and food for the hungry;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF QUEZON CITY IN SESSION ASSEMBLED, AS IT DOES HEREBY RESOLVE TO RECOGNIZE AND BESTOW THE “COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE SERVICE AWARD” TO THE GAWAD KALINGA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION FOR THEIR EFFORTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS IN BUILDING EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES AND HELPING DECONGEST PUBLIC SCHOOLS BY PROVIDING 346 (THREE-HUNDRED FORTY SIX) PRE-SCHOOL CLASSROOMS IN ALL GAWAD KALINGA VILLAGES NATIONWIDE.

STATUE OF DIVINE MERCY

THIS GIGANTIC STATUE OF THE DIVINE MERCY MEASURED 50 FEET HIGH PERHAPS THE MOST REMARKABLE MONUMENT IN MINDANAO. IT IS SITUATED IN EL SALVADOR CITY, AND IT WAS NAMED AFTER THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, JESUS CHRIST. THE STAIRWAY IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THAT OF MRT. THOSE WHO HAVE HEALTH CONDITION ARE ADVISED TO STAY ON THE GROUND. TOURISTS AND OTHER VISITORS ARE ADVISED TO OBSERVED PROPER DECORUM SINCE THE ENTIRE PLACE IS SACRED. THOUGH I AM A REFORMED CATHOLIC, VISITING THE PLACE IS A RARE EXPERIENCE AND I WAS AMAZED TO SEE HOW PEOPLE STRIVE TO CREATE ENORMOUS STATUE LIKE THIS. PILGRIMS FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF ARCHIPELAGO FLOCKED TOGETHER TO SEE THIS WONDERFUL PLACE. I AM A STRONG BELIEVER THAT PEOPLE'S FAITH CREATED THIS PLACE. THEIR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST WORKS WONDER FOR THEM RECEIVING POSITIVE ANSWERS TO WHAT THEY WISH FOR.

FOR QUIET SOMETIME, THE WANDERING BLOGGER SEEMS INACTIVE IN WRITING FOR ONE REASON, NOT BECAUSE HE RUNS OUT OF IDEAS BUT MAINLY BECAUSE OF THIS STRANGE FEELING THAT I DO NOT WANT TO WRITE AT ALL. The Blooded Shoes Cries Again (updated)

Last December 5, 2011, I wrote an article on Gensan Bombing that killed 14 innocent people and injuring around 64 people. The blooded shoes of the innocent victims cried for justice. Just recently, America mourns for the victims of Mass Shooting incident in Las Vegas that killed 58 people and injuring around 489 people. The incident is the deadliest mass shooting committed by an individual in the United States. According to the Section of Washington Post : The Math of Mass Shooting, the death toll change, the places change and the faces in the memorial photos change every time, but the weapons are the common denominator. Mass Killings in the United States are most often carried out with guns, usually handguns, and most of them obtained legally. Although the Mass Shooting in Las Vegas was perpetrated by one man for unknown reason and was not linked with terrorists, but still the blooded shoes escalated in the crime scene cried for justice.
