Personal Accident Insurance for Tricycle Drivers & Passengers

There are about twenty four thousand (24,000) registered tricycle units operating in Quezon City. There is no doubt that the tricycle plays a very important role in the life of the Filipinos especially in bringing their children from home to school and from school to home.. For most us, we consider the tricycle as the taxi of Mr. Juan Dela Cruz.

Like any other sector of our society, the Tricycle Sector needs an immediate attention and care from our government. It has been so long that this important sector of our society has been forgotten both by the National and Local Government.

Lately, Councilor Ramon P. Medalla of the Second District delivered a privilege speech in the plenary of the Regular Session of the City Council of Quezon City entitled, " Tricycle ng Buhay Ko, may Forever ba Tayo,"

In his speech, he said, the tricycle sector was beset with difficulties. There are reports that the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Land Transportation Office run after them especially those traversing the National Road in the absence of an alternative road.

The issue that the tricycle is being used as school bus becomes a subject of debate among the government officials. Some wanted to prohibit tricycle to use as service vehicle for schoolchildren. But Councilor Ramon P. Medalla maintained his position that there is no law that prohibits the use of tricycle as service vehicle for schoolchildren beside it will be very difficult for the parents of the schoolchildren to get the services of the school bus. What is prohibited is overloading.

The gate floods with different problems that confronts the tricycle sector such as; tricycle modernization, personal accident insurance for drivers and passenger, lifting of tricycle moratorium, creation of transport service board and many others.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte was very very happy about the said ordinance. She believes that the safety and protection of the tricycle drivers and passengers are worth investing for. In the first place, our people are our most precious treasures. This development is a wonderful news to our people.

WHAT HAS BEEN BROKEN IS BROKEN

"Nothing is ever truly broken". That is the philosophy behind the ancient Japanese Arts of Kintsugi, which repairs smashed pottery by using beautiful seams of gold. This practice started way, way back in the 15th Century when Japanese Military Commander Ashikaga Yoshimasa accidentally broke one of his favorite Chinese tea pot. (picture taken from BBC Arts Get Creative) Because he loves so much the tea pot, Commander Yoshimasa went to repair shop to get it fixed. But he was dismay over the result. From then on, Japanese Craftsmen come up with more pleasing method of repair. As you can see it from the illustration above and because of the treatment and application being applied no trace of evidence that it was formerly broken into pieces. I wish that this method of fixing broken teapots either made of glass or ceramic can also be applied in our relationship once it was broken into pieces.
