HANDSHAKE

ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH, THE HISTORY OF HANDSHAKE DATES BACK DURING THE 5TH CENTURY B.C. IN GREECE. IT WAS A SYMBOL OF PEACE, SHOWING THAT NEITHER PERSON WAS CARRYING A WEAPON. TODAY, A HANDSHAKE IS A GLOBALLY WIDESPREAD BRIEF GREETING OR PARTING TRADITION IN WHICH TWO PEOPLE GRASP ONE OF EACH OTHER LIKE'S HANDS, IN MOST CASES ACCOMPANIED BY A BRIEF UP-AND-DOWN MOVEMENT OF THE GRASP HAND. FOR US FILIPINOS, A HANDSHAKE IS MORE THAN A BRIEF GREETING AND A PARTING TRADITION.  THOUGH IT COMMONLY DONE UPON MEETING, OFFERING CONGRATULATIONS, EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AND COMPLETING AN AGREEMENT. IN THIS PICTURE, OF COUNCILOR RAMON "TOTO" MEDALLA, SHAKING HANDS WITH THIS MAN DURING HIS HOUSE TO HOUSE VISITATION, I PERSONALLY INTERPRET HANDSHAKE AS A GESTURE OF SEEING AND HEARING HIS CONDITION AND SITUATION IN LIFE AND HE WILL DO SOMETHING TO ADDRESS IT.   THERE ARE FIVE (5) SENIOR CITIZENS IN THE ROSTER OF THE 20 TH CITY COUNCIL OF QUEZON CITY. COUNCILORS TOTO MEDALLA AND NENENG VALMOCINA BELONGS TO THEM. BOTH COUNCILORS TOTO MEDALLA AND NENENG VALMOCINA ARE REELECTIONIST COUNCILORS OF THE SECOND DISTRICT OF QUEZON CITY. IN THE FILIPINO TRADITION, TOTO AND NENENG IS THE MOST LOVED NAMES. TOTO AND NENENG WAS GIVEN SIGNIFICANT ATTENTION BY THE REST OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS. MOST OF THE TIME, TOTO AND NENENG CONNOTES THE YOUNGEST OFFSPRING. EVEN IN THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, TOTO AND NENENG MEANS THEY ARE THE MOST CHERISHED ONE, TRUSTED AND EASY TO GET ALONG WITH. TOTO MEDALLA IS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE CREATION OF SIKAP BUHAY ALSO KNOWN TODAY AS THE QUEZON CITY SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OFFICE, WHILE NENENG VALMOCINA EARNS THE MONICKER AS THE STAR NG KABUHAYAN.

"SALUBONG" - SEMANA SANTA 2019

I WAS RAISED AS ROMAN CATHOLIC BY MY PARENTS. WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, I WAS CONVERTED TO BAPTIST. THEN MY JOURNEY AS A BIBLE BELIEVER AND MY CURIOSITY TO KNOW RELIGION BECOMES STRONGER.  I FOUND MYSELF STUDYING THE BIBLE IN BETHANY BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE IN DIAN ST. MAKATI CITY. THERE, I FINISHED MY BASIC BIBLE COURSE. THEN I PURSUE MY BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY DEGREE IN CENTRAL BIBLE COLLEGE. I ALSO TOOK SPECIAL COURSES IN PRESBYTERIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY WHERE I FINISH MY SPECIAL COURSE IN THEOLOGY. I HEARD ABOUT "SALUBONG" DURING SEMANA SANTA, AND MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, SEEN THIS DURING MY CHILDHOOD BUT MY MEMORIES HAS BEEN ERASED BY SO MANY NEW INPUTS ENTERED TO MY BRAIN. FROM A REFORMED CATHOLIC VIEW AND FROM WHAT I WITNESSED THIS MORNING, LET ME TELL YOU THE STORY OF THE "SALUBONG".  THE WHOLE CHRISTIANITY WAS SADDENED BY THE NEWS OVER THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGH CRUCIFIXION MUCH MORE MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS BEAR THE PAIN.

THEIR SPEECHES ARE WELL ORGANIZED AND CRAFTED. THEY WERE EVEN SUPERB IN THE DELIVERY OF THEIR MASTER PIECE. TO BE HONEST AND FAIR, THERE ARE CERTAIN TRUTH TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING AND CLAIMING BUT MOST OF IT LACED WITH FLOWERY AND SOMETIMES EVEN POISONOUS. SELLING YOURSELF TO THE PEOPLE IS NOT AN EASY JOB. HERITAGE TOUR

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE DIFFERENT MANSIONS THAT WAS BUILT BY THE NEW SAN JOSE BUILDERS OWNER, MR. JOSE "GERRY" ACUZAR WITHOUT SWEATING YOU CAN RIDE THIS CALESA. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT THAT THE OLD MANSIONS IN LAS CASAS IS ONLY A REPLICA OF HISTORIC MANSIONS. LATER, I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE TRUE HISTORIC HERITAGE HOUSES BUILT IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE PHILIPPINES BOUGHT BY THE NEW SAN JOSE BUILDERS AND WERE TRANSFERRED PIECE BY PIECE IN BAGAC BATAAN. THE CONCEPT OF PUTTING ALL HERITAGE HOUSES IN ONE PLACE IS SUPERB. ONLY  A MAN WITH A BRILLIANT MIND CAN DO IT.  MUCH MORE ACQUIRING THESE HISTORIC HOUSES IS AN AMAZING ACT.

According to Councilor Ramon "Toto" Medalla, house to house visitation not only gives him an opportunity to reintroduce himself to the people but gives him opportunities to hear and listen from them. Seeing the actual living condition of his constituents makes him more sensitive to their needs. As he makes his round of visitation in Barangay Payatas this afternoon, he met people with different needs. He noticed that there are those suffering from illnesses that needs an immediate attention. Because of financial constraints, they were deprived of the medical attention they badly needed. Staircase Like Plantation of Benguet

No doubt, Atok Benguet is a lovely place. It is even more beautiful when you actually see it. It is freezing out there. Mt. Timbak is the 3rd Highest Mountain in Luzon.  I only seen this wonderful scenery on postcard when I was a kid. I waste no time, from above, I took picture of the staircase like plantation of the indigenous people of Benguet. This is one of the best tourist attraction of the Philippines for both local and foreign nationals. See it yourself and you will not regret seeing this amazing place and its colorful heritage.

Shooting At The Moon

As an amateur photographer, I always find time to experiment shooting at different subjects at any given time like this one. I hope that sooner my experimentation will pays me of. I took this picture at around 7pm when the moon keeps on rising. To have a little twist of it, I shoot it between the branches of the tree. I hope you like this picture as I do.

Watching Sunset In Bataan

   After a long inactivity of making an article in my blog, I finally made up my mind to write again. This time using my own photos to connect myself once again with other people around the world sharing my new found love which is photography. Taking a photograph of a sunset is a treasurable experience! I took this picture in Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar in Bagac Bataan. The beach front is perfect when it comes to watching the sunset. A speeding jet ski in the picture is just a bonus that makes this pictures more beautiful and seemingly perfect. Like me, I hope you like too this photograph and can relate with me how grateful I am to see this lovely sunset.
