UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL IS A VERY WELL-KNOWN SAYING WHICH IS DESIGNED TO STIR PEOPLE UP TO GREATER UNITY. ALTHOUGH, WE NEVER HEARD OF THIS SAYING DIRECTLY FROM THE MOUTH OF PRESIDENT DUTERTE BUT HIS ENTIRE MESSAGE WAS CHARACTERIZED BY STIRRING UP THE PEOPLE TO HELP HIM ADDRESS THE DIFFERENT PROBLEMS OF OUR NATION. BUT EVEN BEFORE THE PRESIDENT DELIVERED HIS SPEECH, SOMETHING CONTRARY IS HAPPENING IN THE CONGRESS THAT TOOK SO LONG BEFORE THE CRISIS MANAGEMENT TEAM OF THE PRESIDENT TAME THE ISSUE OR THE SITUATION AT LEAST FOR A TIME BEING. THE CIRCUS THAT IS HAPPENING IN THE CONGRESS IS A SOLID ILLUSTRATION OF THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE THAT IF THE PEOPLE WILL NOT HELP HIM ACHIEVE HIS VISION NOTHING GOOD WILL HAPPEN TO US. CHANGING OF LEADERSHIP IN THE CONGRESS IS INEVITABLE BUT THE TIMING WAS SO WRONG. FORGIVE ME FOR SAYING THIS, THE HONORABLE BECOMES DISHONORABLE IN THE EYES OF BILLIONS OF PEOPLE WATCHING THE COVERAGE OF THE THIRD STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS

I WAS DRAFTING  AN ORDINANCE THAT WILL PENALIZE THE PARENTS OF CHILDREN FOR LEAVING THEM UNATTENDED INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN I PASS BY AND SAW A FATHER AND MOTHER WITH THEIR TWO (2) CHILDREN INSIDE AN IMPROVISED WAGON.PARKED AT THE BUSY STREET. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE IMPROVISED WAGON IS VERY SPECIAL TO THE FAMILY BECAUSE IT SERVES AS THEIR HOME ASIDE FROM USING IT AS CARRIAGE OF THEIR COMMODITIES; CARTOONS, EMPTY PLASTIC BOTTLES AND WHATEVER SCRAPS THEY CAN SELL TO THE JUNK SHOP. I APPROACHED THEM AND ASKED THE MOTHER IF I CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF THEM. THE MOTHER WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND I WAS GIVEN PERMISSION TO TAKE PICTURES. THE CHILDREN WERE BOTH SICK MAYBE BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER (RAINY SEASON) OR BECAUSE OF THEIR LIVING CONDITION. THE BYSTANDERS PROMISED TO GIVE MEDICINES FOR HER CHILDREN. I TOLD THE MOTHER THAT I WILL FEATURE THEM IN MY BLOG. WITHOUT PROMISING ANYTHING, I SAID, WHO KNOWS ONE DAY MY GENEROUS READERS WILL TRY TO HELP THEM.
