STILL ON WEDDING TRIVIA

As promised, I will give you the answer to my previous wedding trivia. I hope you will enjoy it and share it with your friends. You can use it as a game after the wedding rites.

1. Who started the white wedding dress? Queen Anne and Prince Albert of Saxe. In 1840, Queen Anne marry Prince Albert of Saxe and she wears a white wedding gown. Soon after, women all over Europe and America began wearing white wedding dresses.

2. What color symbolized purity? If your answer is white you are no different with others who obviously pick white color as the symbol of purity. But they were all wrong. The correct answer is blue. Blue symbolizes purity.

3. What color symbolized wealth? The answer is white.

4. How did bridal showers begin? The bride's friends showered her with gifts, so she would have a dowry. It all began in Holland when a bride's father did not approve of the bride's choice of her husband to be. The bride;s friends therefore, "shower" her with gifts to provide the necessary dowry and marry the man of her choice. While dowries are long gone, the practice of giving gifts still lives on today.

5. What is the history of bride's garter? The correct answer is: Proof that the couple consummated the marriage. The garter from the bride comes from the ancient custom of witnesses at the marriage bed. The witnesses would bring it forth as a sign but it became a violation of privacy. Eventually, the bride later on had the groom throw it to prove consummation.

Once again, I hope you enjoy this trivia. Watch for wedding trivia part II. For now enjoy the wedding party.

WHAT HAS BEEN BROKEN IS BROKEN

"Nothing is ever truly broken". That is the philosophy behind the ancient Japanese Arts of Kintsugi, which repairs smashed pottery by using beautiful seams of gold. This practice started way, way back in the 15th Century when Japanese Military Commander Ashikaga Yoshimasa accidentally broke one of his favorite Chinese tea pot. (picture taken from BBC Arts Get Creative) Because he loves so much the tea pot, Commander Yoshimasa went to repair shop to get it fixed. But he was dismay over the result. From then on, Japanese Craftsmen come up with more pleasing method of repair. As you can see it from the illustration above and because of the treatment and application being applied no trace of evidence that it was formerly broken into pieces. I wish that this method of fixing broken teapots either made of glass or ceramic can also be applied in our relationship once it was broken into pieces.
